Meet The Artists
2023
Barry Bartles
I have been an amateur artist all my life in all mediums, and enjoy painting local and nostalgic scenes.
Angela Harpham
"Variety is the spice of life" is Angela's mantra.
An artist, printmaker, photographer, paper and bookmaker, she creates unique hybrid artworks inspired by the world around her, poetry and song lyrics.
Giles Morriison
In a world of social media distortions, photographs are manipulated and edited beyond recognition.

So what is a good photograph?

Well, it doesn't have to be 'perfect' as so much in life is expected to be. Not perfectly exposed or even perfectly framed.

What it must do, be it reportage, landscape, wedding, or 'snap', is capture a moment or tell a story.

Laura Kerr
Laura Kerr, long-time amateur artist, but delighted when I have occasionally sold a picture. David Hockney is a great inspiration. Like him, I try to express the sheer joy and beauty of the world by simply making pictures- usually with acrylic paints.
Donna Lowson
As a mature, neurodivergent working-class woman currently studying BA Hons fine art at Sheffield Hallam. I am fascinated by peering into the gaps of systems and power structures to expose what lies at the core, which is seldom as it first seems. My mediums are varied from installation and sculpture to film and participatory works. Drawing from symbolism, idioms and metaphors, my medium choice is often the message within my work.
Ali Kitley-Jones
My journey with art started whilst I was suffering from clinical depression. I trained to become an art psychotherapist as a result. My paintings are colourful, and I use Mandela making as a meditative practice.
Elizabeth Crossley
Having retired from being a lecturer in fine art a few years ago, I enjoy painting in acrylic and watercolour. Subjects are mainly local landscapes plus anything I am asked to paint including Alpacas and Koala bears. I also hope to include a couple of fused glass pieces in this exhibition.
Vivien Willatt
Hello! My name is Vivien Willatt, and I love to express myself in various creative ways, including music, singing, and writing, as well as art. Currently I work mainly in watercolor pencils and ink, but I have also done large-scale works as murals in schools and theatre backdrops. I'm very inspired by the natural world, often working from my own photographs - I love discovering the little things, that often get overlooked.
Helen Frances
Hello …. my name is Helen Frances, AKA Hellyhegehog. I come from an arty background (my mother and both grandfathers were artists). I've taught art part-time for 12 years. At present my time is taken up mainly with " folk art" relating to photographs I take in nature: fairies, angels and suchlike in watercolours. I also enjoy painting pebbles in acrylics, doing craft fairs, and doing mind, body, and spirit shows occasionally.
Jane Conlon
I am an amateur artist working with acrylic pours and textures. I find it fascinating how the colors mix and flow in a pour and how unique each piece turns out. I like to keep exploring and experimenting and take pleasure in the journey my art takes me on"
Jill Codrington
I paint what I love most and find visually stimulating. This usually means skies and landscapes, often Peak District views or the local park, and I also have a keen interest in life-drawing.
Diana Crownshaw
Many years ago, a palm reader approached me and a friend on a beach in Cornwall. She told me I shouldn’t work with paper.
Fast forward almost 40 years, the best (or maybe the worst) part of which I spent ‘chained to a desk’ as a typist/admin assistant, becoming more despondent each year, for me ‘early retirement’ couldn’t come early enough.
Still working with paper 2 years on (I never was any good at being told what I should or shouldn’t do) this will be my first time exhibiting. I paint for my own enjoyment and like experimenting with acrylics and watercolours. I also have a keen interest in photography.
Ian Wilshaw
Hi, I am honoured to have been invited to take part in this exhibition.
I have had a love of walking, being in the outdoors surrounded by nature and wildlife since my childhood. A few years ago I took up photography, inspired by stunning pictures of kingfishers that I had seen on social media. I am still very much a hobbyist photographer with entry level kit but wildlife photography has now become a huge passion of mine. I have received favourable feedback for my work and hope to develop my skills further in the future.
Olivia Cox
I love to create. From gardening to video production, pottery to painting, and homely spaces to building relationships, each venture offers a little mirror on the stories that drive me. I am neither 'professional' nor 'trained' but I enjoy the creative process (mostly!) and if others enjoy the results, it's a welcome bonus.
Elesha Searles
Hi I am Elesha Searles. I am a self taught artist who enjoys using acrylic and watercolours to create bright beautiful paintings.
Manar
Manar embarked on my artistic journey in the early days of 2023, seeking solace and self-discovery through the act of creation. Art became her therapeutic sanctuary, a realm where she could paint my emotions, thoughts, and experiences onto the canvas of life.
