Today we delve into art as a form of therapy with local artist Manar

1. Can you provide an overview of your artistic background and journey?

​

I started drawing at the start of the year 2023 as a form of therapy.

​

2. What mediums do you primarily work with, and why did you choose them?

​

​Charcoal, soft pastels, pencils

​

3. How would you describe your artistic style or approach?

​

Expressionism, Surrealism.

 

4. Could you walk me through the conceptual process behind some of your notable works?

​

The Drunk man, that is depiction of my childhood trauma, the painting describes the desperation of an alcoholic, the depression, schizophrenia and suicidal and violent tendencies of my father

 

5. What themes or subjects inspire you the most?

​

Humanity, mankind, nature.

 

6. Can you explain the techniques or methods you use to create your art?

​

I let the theme and the process storming through.

 

7. Do any specific art movements, artists, or historical periods influence your work?

​

Not yet

 

8. How do you ensure that your artistic vision and style remain consistent across different projects?

​

I don't think my style is or ever will be consistent. In life there are just two thing certain, the death and the constant change. I am depicting different topics in different styles, I work with emotions

 

10. What is your favourite piece in your portfolio, and what makes it special to you?

​

The Fortuneteller

 

11. Have you exhibited or sold your artwork before? If so, could you share some of those experiences?

​

I exhibited just in 20x20 exhibition in Sheffield. Haven't sold any of my work yet.

 

12. How do you approach collaboration or working on commissioned projects?

​

I am open to collaboration

 

13. Do you have any particular goals or aspirations for your artistic career?

​

To create, to evolve

 

14. What feedback or reactions have you received from viewers or clients in the past?

​

Not feedback from clients yet

 

15. Do you actively seek out critique or feedback to improve your work? How do you handle constructive criticism?

​

I am happy to receive criticism

 

16. How do you consistently stay motivated and inspired to create new art?

​

I keep my mind open

 

17. Can you talk about any ongoing or upcoming projects you're working on?

​

The trauma, The Healing , the transformation

 

18. Do you have any long-term artistic projects or series that you're passionate about?

​

The Society

 

19. What role do experimentation and exploration play in your artistic process?

​

​Each  of my pieces of work is a form of experimentation.
